Thomas ~ Carritha Mae Perkins Thomas, born August 13, 1947, in Lawtey, Florida to the late Walter and Elnora Bright Perkins. Carritha accepted Christ as her personal savior at an early age. She continued to serve the Lord with all her heart at Truth In Love Ministries.
Mother Thomas attended R. J. E. High School in Lawtey, Florida. She attended Alachua Community college, then moved to Jacksonville, Florida where she was employed with Duval County School Board working with students with disabilities for more than twenty years, until her retirement. Mother Thomas loved working in her church, reading and studying her bible at any given time and being with her family.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Walter and Elnora Bright Perkins; brother, Samuel Perkins; sister, Betty Monroe. On Friday, November 17, 2023, Mother Thomas went home to be with her Lord and Savior. She was a loving and devoted mother. Her memory will be cherished by her family, son, Rodney B. Thomas; grandchildren, RaShawn Butler Thomas, Camryn Thomas; great grandchild, Amiri Greenwood; siblings, Rudolph Perkins, Sr., Mildred Tisdale, James Michael Perkins, Sr., Esther Kelly; lifelong sister in love, Miranda Perkins; many nephews, nieces, cousins, extended family; devoted cousin, Eldress Mary Bright Palmer; spiritual son, Anthony Gardner; god daughter/son in love, LaShaun A. Barton, Brian T. Barton, Brice T. Barton; devoted friends, Mother Benson, Ms. Faith, Ms. Lillian L. “Madear” Smith. Mother Thomas will truly be missed.
Celebration of Life service for Mrs. Carritha Mae Perkins Thomas will be 11:00AM Saturday, November 25, 2023, at Truth In Love Ministries. Visitation Friday from 5 – 7:00 PM at The Church.
