It is with deep sorrow that we celebrate the passing of Carolyn C. Cato, a strong, caring and loving woman, born August 2, 1944, to the parents, Willie Dunbar and Virginia Beasley Dunbar in Jacksonville, Florida. Carolyn graduated from Douglas Anderson High School.
Carolyn was married to Harold Cato, who preceded her in death, for forty-seven years. This union was blessed with three sons, Corey, Chris and Chad. She was a dedicated caregiver and cosmetologist. Carolyn was a member of True Holiness Church.
On February 9, 2026, through her journey of eighty-one years, she touched many lives with her wisdom, humor and unwavering spirit of perseverance. A life-long learner and dedicated mother, Carolyn’s passion for honor and love left a lasting legacy. She was a remarkable cook, fashionista, great hair stylist and enjoyable caretaker. Carolyn was a private person, but she loved family and community.
Carolyn was preceded in death by her spouse, parents; siblings, Bobby Dunbar, Janie Morgan, Patricia Anderson, Cynthia Dunbar. She leaves to cherish her memory, loving sons, Corey Mosley, Christopher Cato, Chad Cato; grandchildren, Christina “Kissy” Cato, Zachary Cato, Christopher Cato Jr, Christen Cato, Chassidy Cato, Darnesha, Riley, Chanel Jenkins, Rhoda Williams; great grandchild, Jacarri McLeod; godchildren, Jatoria Bartolomey, Sherman Martin; siblings, Peggy Morrison, Beverly Dunbar, Michael (Michelle) Dunbar; devoted friends, Henrietta Ford, Eric Myers; a host of nephews, nieces, cousins and friends.
Her simple obituary cannot fully encapsulate her life, but it serves as a tribute to a woman who was deeply loved and will be surely missed. Carolyn’s life story was a vivid picture of dedication and support, leaving others inspired by her personal kindness and laughter. She will be greatly missed and forever remembered by those who had the privilege of knowing her.
Celebration of Life service for Mrs. Carolyn C. Cato will be 1:00PM Saturday, February 21, 2021, at True Holiness Church, 4022 Spring Grove Avenue. Visitation Friday from 5 – 7:00 PM at The Soutel Chapel. Interment in Restlawn Memorial Park South. Because of the love of her family, arrangements entrusted to J. E.
