Graddick ~ Carlton E. Graddick, affectionately known as “Doc”, was born January 29, 1958, in Jacksonville, Florida. He was the youngest of five siblings. Carlton had a passion for cooking, a skill that was taught to him by his loving mother, Willie Mae Perry Graddick. Early in life, Carlton accepted Christ as his Lord and Savior. He answered the Lord’s call and entered into eternal rest on February 17, 2025.
Carlton was a graduate of Robert E. Lee High School, currently named Riverside High School. Carlton enjoyed playing sports and as an athlete he played basketball at John Gory Middle School, and both basketball and football for Robert E. Lee. Additionally, he played on several baseball teams at Forest Park.
He was employed by Jones Chemical Company. After his tenure with Jones Chemical, Carlton followed his passion for cooking as a Chef at Cedar Rivers Seafood and Dave & Buster’s. Wherever he graced the kitchen, he earned the respect and admiration of his colleagues.
Carlton’s life was marked by love, kindness, generosity and loyalty. He loved spending time with his family and friends in which he would often volunteer to barbecue earning himself the name “Barbeque Man”. His family and love for Christ was everything to him. While facing his health challenges, he consistently said “Gods got me!”.
Carlton was preceded in death by his parents; brother, Nathan Graddick Jr.; sisters, Carolyn J. Kelly (Curtis Kelly), Wilma Hodge (Larry Hodge); brother-in-law, Sidney Rogers; niece, Vikki Graddick Cardona.
He leaves to cherish his memories a devoted daughter, whom he simply adored, Kalisha Graddick; sisters, Gwendolyn Graddick Rogers, Ivey R. Howard; sister-in-law, Mary W. Graddick; cherished nieces and nephews; special cousins, Joyce Jackson, his ride or die, Brenda Jackson, Clarence Jackson, Cleveland, Susie Lynette, and Linda Dukes, Susan Biggins; longtime friends, Iris McCloud, Edward “Jerome” Carter and Kim “Yvette” Wilson.
Family and friends will gather to celebrate the life of Carlton E. Graddick, 11 AM Saturday, March 1, 2025, at True Holiness Church, 4022 Spring Grove Avenue. Visitation Friday from 5 – 7 PM at The Soutel Chapel. Because of the love of his family, arrangements entrusted to J. E. Fralin & Sons Funeral & Cremation Services, 5065 Soutel Dr, 904.924.9400.
