Brenda J. Watkins

Watkins ~ Brenda Jenell Parker was born June 8, 1952, in Jacksonville, Florida to Rev. A.J. Parker and Rosalee Parker.  She attended and graduated from New Stanton High School, class of 1970.

Brenda was employed by several entities throughout Jacksonville, including Winn Dixie Stores and Chappell Care Center.  On August 14, 1973, Brenda was joined in Holy Matrimony to Elbert L. Watkins and three children were born to this union ~ Erika, Shona, and Marlon. Brenda united with Springhill Missionary Baptist Church where she served faithfully until her death.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Elbert L. Watkins; daughter, Shona Tameka Hester; parents, Rev. A. J. and Rosa Lee Parker; brothers, Anthony L. Parker, Charles H. Parker, Kenneth M. Parker; sisters, Jeraldine Cunningham, Nathalie F. Parker.  Brenda leaves to cherish her memory, daughter, Erika Jones (Maurice); son, Marlon Watkins; grandchildren, Daishon Jones, Jekhari Jones (Currtez) Jemell Jones, Tameya Jones, Adaja Burns, Shurron Hester, Jr., Tiauna Hester, Kimora Hester, Maryah Jones, George Donald, Jr.; five great grandchildren; siblings, Anthony J. Parker (Rachel), Carlton Parker (Faye), Vernell Parker (Griffin), Benjamin Parker (Victoria); a host of nephews, nieces and sorrowing friends including childhood friend, Carolyn Gilyard, and close friend, Tina Lawson.

Celebration of Life service for Mrs. Brenda Jenell Watkins will be 11:00AM Saturday, October 21, 2023, at Springhill Missionary Baptist Church.  Visitation Friday from 5 – 7:00 PM at The Soutel Chapel.  Interment in Restlawn Memorial Park.  Because of the love of her family, arrangements entrusted to J.
