Bernice W. Abney

Abney ~ Bernice Abney, 71, of Jacksonville, Florida passed away December 8, 2022.  She was born July 3, 1951, to Hubert and Aldine White in Mobile, Alabama.  After graduating from Murphy High School in 1971, she furthered her education at Massey Business College.

Bernice was employed with Shands Jacksonville for thirty-three years before retiring and spending her time cooking and traveling.  While working at Shands, Bernice met and married James Abney; they were married January 4, 1975 and were blessed with two children, Jamel and Latanya Abney.  was a member of Greater Harvest Christian Fellowship for many years where she served as an usher board leader and worked in the kitchen assisting with many church events. 

She was predeceased by her parents, Hubert and Aldine White; sister, Annice Legons;  nephew, Marvin Franklin.  Bernice is survived by her husband of forty-seven years, James Abney; children, Jamel and Latanya Abney; siblings, Lorraine Franklin, Delores Ward, Stella Shamburger (Lawrence), Emma Dean White, Diane White, Hubert White, Jr.; a host of nephews, nieces, other relatives and friends.

Family and friends will gather to celebrate the life of Mrs. Bernice Abney, 11 AM Friday, December 16, 2022, at Greater Harvest Christian Fellowship, 9113 Ridge Boulevard.   Visitation Thursday from 5 – 7 PM at The Church.  Because of the love of her family, arrangements entrusted to J.
