GREEN ~ On Friday, July 31, 2020, Bennie L Green, loving husband and father of four children, was called to Glory at age 76.
Bennie was born March 24, 1944 in Jacksonville, Florida. He attended Matthew Gilbert High School and earned his GED while serving in the United States Army. Bennie served thirty years in the United States Army and retired as Command Sergeant Major in 1990. He also retired as a supervisor at the Duval County Detention Center. On July 13, 1964, he was joined in holy matrimony to Betty Jean Smith and was blessed to raise three daughters and one son.
Bennie was a spiritual man and a faithful member of Tabernacle Baptist Institutional Church where Michael C. Edwards is Pastor. He had a love for fishing and music. Bennie was known for his hard work ethic and his ability to instill this value in others.
Bennie was preceded in death by his mother, Minnie Washington and his mother-in-law, Mary Lue Smith. He is survived by his wife, Betty Green; children, Benita Paul, Bridget Green, Barrett Green, and Belinda Nash; six grandchildren; two great-grandchildren; six siblings; a host of loving nephews, nieces, cousins, other relatives and close friends.
Graveside Service for Bennie Lee Green will be Monday, 11:00 AM, August 10, 2020, at Jacksonville National Cemetery, 4083 Lannie Road, Pastor Michael Edwards.
