April Holzendorf Obituary

Holzendorf ~ April Devon Holzendorf, age 55, of Jacksonville, Florida, passed away peacefully June 24, 2025, at her home.  She was born May 28, 1970, in Jacksonville, Florida to Christine Sherman and the late Thomas Leroy, Sr.  April graduated from William M. Raines Senior High School, class of 1988, and later obtained her business administration degree from Career.com.  She married Gary Holzendorf on March 5, 1991, and together they shared thirty-four years of marriage.

April was humble, loyal, lovable, and enjoyed spending time with loved ones.  She engaged in OES – Ladies of Peace 1008 and was an active member of The Oracles of God Church under the leadership of Bishop A. J. Sales.

She was preceded in death by her grandmother, Catherine Jones, Willie Mae Leroy; grandfather, Joseph Leroy; uncle, Claudest Sherman Jr.; aunt, Geraldine; great aunt, Mattie Gates; best friends, Tracey Ash (Sal), Linda Day (Tangie).  April is survived by husband, Gary Holzendorf; son, Cherron Holzendorf, George Mele; daughters, Garrie Holzendorf, Mi’Lisa Macer (Dominic), Taylor Holzendorf; grandchildren, Azariah, Yasmin, Zamar, Mi’Kail, Cherron, Shavarius, Bayley, Dominic, Julnor, Jason, Gianna; mother, Christine Smith (Jerry); brothers, Thomas Leroy, Jr. (La’Sonya), Ronald Dawsey Jr., Larry Dawsey; sister, Christina Dawsey; godmother, Catherine Rawls; many nephews and nieces whom she helped to raise; a host of many special relatives and friends.

Celebration of Life service for Mrs. April Devon Holzendorf will be 11:00AM Saturday, July 5, 2025, at Philadelphia Missionary Baptist Church.  Visitation Friday from 5 – 7:00 PM at The Soutel Chapel.  Because of the love of her family, arrangements entrusted to J.
