Amanda Evans Obituary

Evans Amanda Moody Evans was born in New Ellenton, South Carolina May 7, 1929, to the late Daniel and Arrie Mae Moody.  She was educated in the school system of South Carolina.  At an early age, Amanda accepted Christ and was baptized at the Runs Missionary Baptist Church.  She was truly a rare gem as a gifted youth speaker whose anointed voice uplifted the congregation. Amanda was a second-generation seamstress and the backbone of Evans & Sons Construction. Led by her husband, their company emerged as one of the few minority state-certified building contractors in Jacksonville.

As a beloved mother of eight, Amanda’s children were her unapologetic passion. She gave them a lifetime of grace, always loving, guiding, and supporting them no matter the circumstances. Amanda was a remarkable cook. Her delight in preparing delicious meals for her loved ones, especially during holidays and any given Sunday, was a source of boundless joy and warmth. Amanda passed on her entrepreneurial fashion affinity and seamstress talents. She was proud of the accomplishments of her children owning businesses, having successful careers, and being world travelers. Amanda was funny and will be remembered for her sweet personality and her infectious smile.

Amanda peacefully made her transition, ascending to the Lord March 31, 2023, at the age of 93. She was surrounded by her loving children who cared for her and provided constant companionship during the last eight years of her life.

Amanda was predeceased by her beloved husband, Wilbur Evans, Sr.  Her family grieves her loss, but they take comfort knowing that Wilbur and Amanda are together again.  She is also preceded in death by four sons, Charles, Michael, Wilbur Jr., and Ronald Evans.  Amanda is survived by her devoted children, Sandra (Beter) Livingston, Paul Evans Sr., Merdice (Sean) Evans-Price, and Tracy (Corey) Evans-Frere; eight grandchildren, eight great grandchildren; brother-in-law, Heyward Williams; sister-in-law, Annie Moody; many loving family members and friends.

Although she will be missed deeply, we are uplifted by her legacy of love and the joyous certainty that Amanda now rests in the loving arms of her Creator, enjoying the eternal rewards of a life well lived in devotion to Him. Celebration of Life service for Mrs. Amanda Moody Evans will be 11:00AM Saturday, April 8, 2023 at Family Life Worship Center Worldwide Ministries, 3860 Charleston Highway, Aiken, South Carolina.  Visitation Thursday from 5 – 7:00 PM at The Soutel Chapel.  Interment at Fairfield Missionary Baptist Church.  Because of the love of her family, arrangements entrusted to J.
