BROOKS ~ Ms. Norvie June Brooks transitioned from her earthly home into her eternal home September 15, 2018. She was born February 14, 1952 to the late Paul Brooks and Juanita Watson in Jacksonville, Florida. Ms. Brooks was united with her spouse, Dwight Moses, for fifty-two years. She was preceded in death by her parents; daughter, Cheryl Freeman; granddaughter, Sahara Barkley; brother, Thomas Brooks; sisters, Geraldine Mims, Charlotte Pratt, Shirley Lee Brooks.
Norvie attended the local schools of Duval County. She was a civilian worker with Naval Air Station Jacksonville, Florida over thirty years. Norvie enjoyed spending time with her family; family gatherings were her most precious times. Cooking was something she really enjoyed as she shared and passed the cooking torch to her grandchildren. She also enjoyed dancing. Norvie was a fighter and fought a long battle with her health – she was hospitalized over one hundred times during her lifetime; she endured much.
Norvie leaves a legacy of love and memories to daughters, Nichole (Charles) Earvin, Rozella (Eric) White, Shandra (Shawn) Simmons & Juanita Renthrope; grandchildren, Dyshon Renthrope, Shontisia (Amos) Porter, Kyle-Brandon Gillyard, Arielle Gillyard, Johnny Lewis, Christopher Gillyard, Karen Jones, Dwight Brooks, Nicholaus Gillyard, Robert Renthrope, Darron Renthrope, Dquan Simmons, Rashawn Simmons, Kelvin (Walnoshia) Elmore, Victoria Tillman; a host of great-grandchildren; brothers, Paul Brooks, Willie (Jacquelyn) McDaniels, Ervin Brooks; sisters, Rose McDaniels, Willie Mae Simmons; a host of loving, caring and supportive relatives and friends.
Celebration of Life Service for Norvie June Brooks will be 11:00 AM Saturday, September 22, 2018 at Mt. Bethel Missionary Baptist Church, 1620 Helena Street, Pastor Robert E. Herring. Family will receive friends FRIDAY from 5 – 7 PM at The Soutel Chapel. Interment at Restlawn Memorial Park. Because of the love of his family, arrangements entrusted to J. E.
