Golden ~ Mrs. Modestine McKissick Golden departed this life Tuesday, April 16, 2019. Mrs. Golden was born in Jacksonville, Florida, April 15, 1929, to Lawrence and Anna McKissick. She received her education in Duval County Schools graduating from Stanton High School in 1946. Mrs. Golden was employed at the Strand Theater for many years; however, her joy was working with young children as a Teacher Assistant at George Washington Carver Elementary School where she retired after almost thirty years of dedicated service. Mrs. Golden was a lifelong member of The Bethel Church where she sang in the original Young Adult Choir for several years. She was preceded in death by her husband, Samuel Golden and both of her parents. She is survived by two loving daughters, Paula Robinson and Kim Law (Clint); son, Michael Matthews; granddaughters, Santasha Scott (Chandler), Tiffani Dailey (Torin), Ersula White (Michael), and Ciera Flowers; six great grandsons, Cole Scott, Samir White, Torin Dailey, Kingston White, Ave Alexander White and Tayler Dailey; loving brother, Bishop Rudolph McKissick, Sr. (Estelle); dedicated nephew, Bishop Rudolph McKissick, Jr. (Kimberly); two great nieces, Jocelyn and Janai McKissick; one great nephew, Joshua P. McKissick; sister-in-law, Hattie McKissick; a host of family and friends. Celebration Service for Mrs. Golden will be 11:00 AM Tuesday, April 23, 2019, at Bethel Baptist Institutional Church, 215 Bethel Baptist Street, Bishop R. W. McKissick Jr., Senior Pastor, Bishop R. W. McKissick, Sr., Pastor Emeritus. Visitation MONDAY from 5 – 7 PM at THE CHURCH. Interment in Evergreen Cemetery. Because of the love of her family, arrangements entrusted to J. E.
