Millie N. Edwards

EDWARDS ~ Millie Narcissie Tharrington Edwards was born on September 27, 1936, a joy to William and Amy Tharrington.  She was the first daughter and the eldest sister of; Lena Therrington who preceded her, Marjorie Batchelor, and Ruby Bernardo.

She attended and graduated from Nash Central High School in Nashville N.C. and excelled in all of her studies.  Millie worked in New York for many years with developmentally disabled children and adults until she suffered an injury which ended her working career.  She said she loved her job and she was beloved by many in that community. 

Millie gave birth to her loving son, Bruce Tharrington in May of 1957 and was married to Larry Edwards in 1983 and upon arriving in Woodstock Georgia, they became members of Allen Temple AME Church and the two were happily married until the time of Larry’s passing in 2012.  They were a loving and well-suited family, and each provided great company and support for the other.  Although she was good at cooking, she always said she didn’t particularly like doing it, and, in fact, refused to do much cooking other than fixing breakfast, which suited her husband fine.  Millie was a bit of a perfectionist and she liked to have everything in order.  If she caught you messing with her things, she would tell you where you could go in an instant, and she kept a baseball bat in her truck “JUST IN CASE”.

Millie was never the kind of person to complain or to try to burden anyone else with her problems.  She was a person who liked keeping busy and who liked being on the go.  She loved her truck and loved to drive and enjoyed life to the fullest.  There was nothing she would not do for her family and friends, if it was within her power and she would always arrive with a smile on her face to help anyone out of their situation because she believed that God would take care of all things and all we had to do was hold on.

On July 31, 2019, Millie Narcissie Tharrington Edwards, went home to be with the Lord and those who have gone on before her.  She is survived by her son Bruce Tharrington and his wife Mary; her sister, Marjorie Bathchelor and Ruby Bernardo; loving nieces and nephews; her entire church family in Georgia and a host of friends.  We miss her dearly and she will be eternally beloved. 

Celebration of Life Service for Millie N. Edwards will be at 11:00 AM August 9, 2019 at Southern Tabernacle Missionary Church, 7904 New Kings Rd.  Family will receive friends one hour before the service.  There will not be a public viewing.  Because of the love of her family arrangements entrusted to J.
