MACK ~ Margarette Mack was born in Jacksonville, Florida, July 29, 1958, to the parents of Curtis Johnson and Thelma Burns, who preceded her in death. Margie, age 60, passed away peacefully, Wednesday July 3, 2019.
After graduating from Robert E. Lee Senior High School, Margie attended Edward Waters College. She was employed with the United States Postal Service over thirty-one years as a mail processing clerk. There she met and married John Nealey, eternal love for twenty-two years. During this time, she served as a union stewardess. She served over twenty-eight years as an officer in the American Postal Workers Union, as Legislative Representative, Vice President of the North Florida Central Labor Council and active member of the A. Philip Randolph Institute-Jax Chapter. Margie was a member of Shiloh Metropolitan Baptist Church. She loved football, thrift stores and President Barack and Michelle Obama.
Margie was preceded in death by her brother, James Burns; sister, Haven Burns and brother-in-law, Ralph Young. Left to cherish her memory, husband, John Nealey; son, Mannon Mack; step children, Valerie Rodgers, Tanya Thompson, Jalohn Nealey Hick, Eric, Lemuel & Duane Nealey; 21 step grandchildren; god children, Donnie Pierce, Sr. (Latroya), Keith Howell, Sr. (Shunnarrah) & Megan Suggs (Adrian); brothers, Arthur L. Burns and Paul Burns (Kathy); sisters, Catherine Burns, Vera Burton (Willie), Geneva McClain (Johnnie) & Zelma Young; aunts, Idora Sampson (Tunk) & Lutisha Easton (Tap); along with her many nephews, nieces, great nephews, great nieces, cousins; devoted friends, Doris Orr Richardson & Mr. & Mrs. Hughes; all of these whom she loved and touched deeply.
Margie would like to let you know that her work here is done. She received a call, an offer she couldn’t refuse, for an appointment from which she will not be returning. This assignment comes with a huge bonus of being reunited with her parents, family and friends she has not seen in a long time.
Celebration for Margarette Michelle Mack will be 11:00 AM Friday, July 12, 2019 at Shiloh Metropolitan Baptist Church, 1118 W. Beaver Street, H. B. Charles, Jr., Pastor - Teacher. Family will receive friends Thursday at Master's Touch Ministry, 4510 Soutel Drive from 5 - 7 PM. Interment at Jacksonville National Cemetery.
