Maebell Shields Obituary

SHIELDS ~ Mae Bell Allen Shields was born August 4, 1931 to the late Clarence Shields and the late Emma Jennings in Reidsville, Georgia.  She attended the public schools in Tattnall and Glynn Counties, Georgia.

Mae Bell met and married her late husband, Frank Allen.  She held church membership at Magnolia Missionary Baptist Church, transferring over to Redeeming Faith Missionary Baptist Church under the leadership of Rev. Thomas Boone where she served as church mother and deaconess until Rev. Boone retired and her health began to fail.  She now holds membership at Mt. Herman Missionary Baptist Church under the leadership of Pastor A L. Jordan.  She was a member of the Order of Eastern Star Rebecca Chapter #015 and Stars of Love #530.

Mae Bell was employed at Mayport Naval Station as a blueprint operator at Sup-ships of Mayport until she retired with many years of dedicated service.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Frank Allen; Chevis Tobe and Walter Brown; children, Robert, Janice and Tommie; grandchildren, Clotel, Nekia and Atonette; great grandchildren, Ja Quin, Larry and Darryl; siblings, Ted, Ned, Joe, William, Elizabeth and Hazel.

Mae Bell enjoyed watching sports, especially football and basketball.  After her retirement, she was fortunate to go on many deep sea fishing adventures; she loved to fish, whether from sea to shore.  She also enjoyed eating fresh fish and when she was no longer able to go fishing, her devoted niece/daughter, Betty, would delight her with the fresh catch of the day.

Mae Bell leaves to forever cherish her memory, children, Frankie Lowe, Estella (Tyrone) Wells, Beatrice Allen and Chevis (Peggy)Tobe; many grandchildren; siblings, Leroy Sharpe, Jeanette (Larry) and Lucy Brown; godchildren, Mike, Marvin, Terry, Roservelt, Brenda, and Betty Jean; dear friends, Barbara Smith, Lapank, Robert, Jackie, Earnestine, Fred; a host of relatives and sorrowing friends.
