MURPHY ~ Madgie Trapp “NaNa” Murphy was born September 15, 1919 to Wilford and Mary Trapp in Woodbine, Georgia. She was the youngest of twelve children which preceded her in death. Madgie was 98 years old.
Madgie graduated from Old Stanton High School class of 1936. She met J. Z. Murphy of Lake City, Florida and they were married for more than thirty-five years.
She joined Abyssinia Missionary Baptist Church over seventy years ago, where she remained a member until her demise. While attending Abyssinia, she served on the Usher Board Ministry over fifty years and attended Sunday School.
Madgie transitioned May 30, 2018 at St. Vincent’s Community Hospice of Northeast Florida and leaves to cherish her memory, cousins from the Trapp family, Robbie Jiles of Milton, Florida, Harvey J. (Jimmie Pearl) Harper, Beverly Harper of Greensboro, North Carolina, Joyce Quiller of Stone Mountain, Georgia, Heather (Martin) Carter; nephews and nieces from the Murphy family, Cynthia Tomlin of St. Petersburg, Florida, Gwendolyn McKnight of Brandon, Florida, James Lake of Palm Beach, Florida, Dr. Ruena (Dr. James) Norman of Tallahassee, Florida, Brenda (Delmas) Davis, Reginald (Nadine) Owens of Gainesville, Florida; cousin Horace Jones, Jr. of Lake City, Florida; a host of nephews, nieces, extended family and sorrowing friends, including Michael Burrell and Ronnie. She will be missed by everyone that knew and loved her.
Celebration of Life Service for Mrs. Madgie O. Murphy will be 11:00 AM Friday, June 8, 2018 at 10325 Interstate Center Drive, Rev. Dr Eugene W. Diamond, Pastor. Family will receive friends Thursday from 5 – 7 PM at The Soutel Chapel. Because of the love of her family, arrangements entrusted to J. E.
