WILLIAMS ~ Gloria D. Williams, daughter of the late Stephen and Flaury Williams, was born in Jacksonville, Florida February 10, 1935. She was baptized in Good Shepherd Episcopal Church, Fernandina Beach, Florida.
Gloria attended St. Peter Claver Catholic School and Peck High School, graduating in 1952. She was a member of the Peck Basketball Team, Drama Club, and New Homemakers of America. Gloria was a domestic worker and caretaker for the Carnegie Family, the Rice Family, and Aunt Leila C. Taylor.
Gloria transitioned to her heavenly home December 3, 2019. She was preceded in death by her brother, Steven Williams, Jr.; sisters, Jannie Alvarez and Lucy Richo; and son-in-law, Sammie L. Akins, Sr. Gloria leaves to cherish her memory, her devoted daughter, Leila P. Akins; granddaughter, Andretta Akins; grandsons, Sammie L. Akins, Jr. (Donna) and Brian E. Akins; great-granddaughter, Lashonda Thompson; sister, Elsie W. Green; sister-in-law, Margaret Williams; many nephews, nieces, cousins, and friends; special cousins, Lorine Jordan and Martha Burns; and great-grand dog, Chelsea.
Homegoing Service for Mrs. Gloria Williams will be 10:00 AM Saturday, December 14, 2019, at St. Gabriel’s Episcopal Church, 5253 Moncrief Rd, Rev. Canon Eddie E.
