Gene Willis Agan

AGAN ~  Gene W. Agan quietly departed this life and went home to be with the Lord on Wednesday, December 25, 2019 at the age of 59 years old.

Gene was born on January 20, 1060.  As to the whereabouts of any family members it is unknown.  He resided at state funded facility for persons with disabilities in Gainesville, Florida until being discharged from this facility and admitted to Amelia Island Care Center in Fernandina Beach; Florida.  Gene resided there until his discharge in October 2009 to a smaller ICF/DD, Hendricks Cluster Home operated by Care Centers of Nassau.

Gene had a special friend, Mrs. Rose Jones who on July 17, 1991 became his guardian advocate.  They had a very special bond and would often go on outings together such as; taking trolley rides around Amelia Island as well as rides in her car.  Mrs. Jones was very active in Gene’s life and the only family known to him.

Gene loved maneuvering his wheelchair about his home backwards inspecting his surroundings.  He would make sounds as his way of communication and through those sounds, he has been heard saying the word “Outside”.  Gene attended the Independent Achievement Center which is a day program located on Hendricks Road in Fernandina Beach; Florida where he received skilled training.

Gene’s beautiful life will forever be cherished through his peers and staff of Care Centers of Nassau.  He leaves to mourn his passing, Mrs. Rose Jones a loving and dedicated guardian advocate.

Graveside service for Gene Willis Agan will be held 11:00 AM Tuesday, December 31, 2019 at Whispering Pines Cemetery, Yulee, Florida.  Because of the love of his family arrangements entrusted to J. E. Fralin & Sons Funeral & Cremation Services, 5065 Soutel Drive, 904.924.9400
