KIMBROUGH-SCARLETT ~ Erline Kimbrough-Scarlett was born February 6, 1946, in Randolph County, Georgia, to the late Deacon Lemuel and Louise Kimbrough. Seventy-three beautiful years later, Friday morning, October 11, 2019 at 1:20 a.m., she peacefully went home to the Lord.
The daughter of a church deacon, Erline was a woman of faith. Spending many of her formative years in church, a strong church life came with the territory. As a young child, Erline accepted the Lord as her savior and was baptized by the late Reverend H. H. Robinson of the Mt. Sinai Baptist Church. During those early years, she was a faithful member of the Youth Usher Board, Youth Choir, Sunday School and BYPU (Baptist Young Peoples Union). She was educated in the Duval County School System and graduated from New Stanton Senior High School in 1964. Erline was married to the late Luther Scarlett.
Erline’s Christian foundation manifested a unique spirit towards people, and she loved being with family and friends. She had a way of making you laugh and smile, and her home was the “place to be” where everyone always felt special. Her work career of choice afforded her the joy and satisfaction of making sure her daughter Shandra and grandchildren, Stephen, and Alliyah had everything they needed.
She was preceded in death by brother, Alfred Kimbrough; brother-in-law, Alfred Mack, Miles Allen; sister-in-law, Annie B. Kimbrough, and Mary L. Kimbrough. Erline’s life journey came to an end when the Almighty God called her name and relieved her of her earthly challenges and welcomed her into His heavenly home. She leaves to cherish her precious memory, her beloved only child, Shandra D. Kimbrough-Harper (Solomon); grandson, Stephen Kohn II (Rachel), granddaughter, Alliyah Harper; great-grandchildren, Xavier Torren Kohn, Skylar Adair Kohn, Jadden Shaw; brothers, Lemuiel Kimbrough, Jr. (Delores), Willie J. Kimbrough, Walter H. Kimbrough (Evelyn); sisters, Marthel Allen, Shirlene Hughes (Jerris), M.
