Anthony Norton Obituary

NORTON ~ Anthony was a true multi-talented young African American born in Ft., Lauderdale, Florida, September 5, 1968. He was baptized at Mount Nebo Missionary Baptist Church at the young age of five years.  Anthony joined the youth choir, young adult choir, and male chorus.  He was a member of the Florida Mass Choir singing praises unto God around the United States of America.

Anthony graduated from Piper High School, class of 1986.  He then joined the United States Navy where he traveled extensively for four years around the world; he began studies in business and law related classes with a minor in biology.

After his military service, Anthony was employed by the San Diego Teacher’s Credit Union as a support specialist.  Seeking more experience, he was later employed by the United States Post Office.  Anthony enjoyed playing racquet ball, basketball, roller blading and listening to and playing his keyboard.

Anthony moved to Hilliard, Florida in 2016, and immediately joined Mount Olive Missionary Baptist Church under the leadership of Pastor Lorenzo Watson.  His hope was to continue to work for the Lord; he loved worship and fellowship service – that was his life.  His health failed and sickness overpowered him that he could not do the spiritual work he so enjoyed.  However, may the work he has done for the Lord, speak for him.

Anthony departed this life Wednesday, December 4, 2019, at Baptist Medical Center North Campus in Jacksonville, Florida.  His favorite saying, “I am healed by the power of Light”; favorite songs, “Walk Around Heaven” and “This Morning When I Rose”.  He leaves to cherish his memory, mother, Evangelist Myrtice Nesbitt-Harris; brother, Andre Pernell Wilkerson; sister, Ruthie Cherie Nesbitt; grandmother, Ollie Mae Yulee; uncle, Marion Ruff; aunts, Lessie Harmon, Betty Ruff, Janice (Fred) Murray, Ethel Boatwright, Viola (James) Baker; great uncle, Bobby Davis; great aunts, Elouise Chaneyfield, Daisy Mae Richardson; a host of extended family, friends and his loving church family.
