YOUNG ~ Annie Loretta Young was born November 28, 1943 to the late William K. and Louise Young. She lived in Jacksonville her entire life. At an early age, she gave her life to the Lord and became a member of St. Matthews African Methodist Episcopal Church where she served as a choir member for many years.
Annie attended local schools in Jacksonville and graduated from New Stanton High School, class of 1963. She worked as a dental hygienist before working at St. Luke Hospital in the food service department, where she retired in 2003, after twenty-eight years of dedicated service.
Annie was a loving mother of two children. She is preceded in death by her son, Carlos Speights; parents, William & Louise Young; brother, William K. Young, Jr.; sisters, Donetha Prelow & Velma Allen; step-mother, Eleanor Curry-Young. Annie’s memory will forever be cherished by her daughter, Harriet Cooper; brothers, Charles (Greta) Young, Keith (Jackie) Curry; sisters, Linda Tisdale, Patricia (Vander) James, Sonja (Jeffery) Alexander, Juanita Penny (Arlanders) Anthony, Donna Montgomery, Jawanda (Ezra) Waters; a host of loving and devoted nephews and nieces; special cousins; devoted friend, Ms. Lois Swagin; other family and friends.
Celebration of Life Service for Mrs. Annie Loretta Young will be 12:00 PM Saturday, May 11, 2019, New Mt. Olive Church of Jacksonville, 1420 Brady Street, Pastor Ernest L. Taylor.
