WALTERS ~ Andrew Walters, Jr. was born December 21, 1930 in Augusta, Georgia. He was the second child born to Rev. Andrew Walters, Sr. and Mrs. Nevada Walters. Both of his parents and one sibling, Anna Holmes, preceded him in death.
Andrew Walters, Jr. peacefully departed this earthly life for eternal life Thursday, April 12, 2018 at the age of 87.
Mr. Walters served as a faithful deacon under three pastoral administrations: St Luke Missionary Baptist Church (Rev. Jason Barr, Pastor), Macedonia Baptist Church ( Dr. Landon L. Williams, Sr., Pastor), and more recently, First New Zion Baptist Church (Dr. James B. Sampson, Pastor).
A military veteran, and member of the 82nd Airborne of the Korean War, he leaves to cherish precious memories, his children, Kenneth (Joan) Walters (New Castle, Delaware)), Louise McCoy (Atlanta, Georgia); grandchildren, Sameer, K’tina, Kenneth Brandon, Reauchean and Bryan; thirteen great grandchildren; three great-great grandchildren; sisters, Ruby Boyd (St Louis, Missouri) and Willie Mae Arnold (Jacksonville, Florida); nephews, nieces; a devoted first cousin, Beatrice Singleton (Jacksonville, Florida); and many friends.
Celebration of Life for Andrew Walters will be 11:00 AM Thursday, April 19, 2018 at First New Zion M B Church, 4835 Soutel Dr, Rev. Dr. James Sampson, Pastor. Family will receive friends Wednesday from 5 – 7 PM at the Soutel Chapel. Interment at Jacksonville National Cemetery. Because of the love of his family, arrangements entrusted to J. E.
