Allie Miller Obituary

MILLER ~ Allie Mae Miller, was born December 6, 1932, in Boston, Georgia to the late Walter Williams and the late Henrietta Hickerson.  Life with her only sibling, the late Charlie Mae Williams was filled with many life-long lessons and memories. Allie Mae, whose “high cheek bone” smile, humor and laughter brightened up any day, was a cancer survivor and departed us July 13, 2018 at home in Jacksonville, Florida.

Allie Mae was valedictorian of her high school in 1950 and also played high school basketball. She moved to Jacksonville, Florida after marrying Dennis Hankins Miller January 12, 1952, where they built a home and raised four children. She was a long-time member of Mt. Ararat Baptist Church, stay-at-home mother, seamstress, excellent cook and baker.  Within the community, she was well respected for her gardening, organizational and family-life skills.

Family remaining to lovingly remember her, son, John Williams Miller (Trudy); daughters, Allie Lavender P. Miller, Laureen P. Munfus (Wilbert), Lavonne P. Cannady (Darryl F.); step-daughters, Veatrice M. Monroe and Annie L. Adams (Edward); grandsons, Wilbert L. Munfus, Jr., Mark F. Miller, John F. Miller, Paul F. Miller, Darryl F. Cannady II (Claudia), Michael D. Cannady, Marquis D. Cannady; step-grandson, Forrest C. Monroe III; granddaughters, Delicia L. McCray (Corey), Leora D. Munfus, Vyckée C. Cannady, Nicole I. Cannady; step-granddaughters, Eddricka Kumar (Devinder), Katja Dickerson (Reginald); great-grandsons, Chase L. Daniel and Corey J. McCray; step-great-grandsons, Kyle E. Kumar, Reginald L. Dickerson Jr; great-granddaughters, Leilani D. Munfus and Nia D. Cannady; step-great-granddaughters, A1C Shania A. N. Dickerson, Navaeh G. Dickerson; nephews, Walter Hill (Evetta), Andrew Redmond, John Lewis Redmond, Otis James Robert (Charlotte), Wilbur Seabrooks; niece, Rosa Williams; a “cloud of witnesses” that encompassed family, friends, co-workers and acquaintances who knew her through personal contact and/or descriptions of events she attended.

Allie Mae is predeceased by her ex-husband, Dennis Hankins Miller; sibling, Charlie Mae Williams; nephew, Ernest Nealy; and niece, Teresa Williams.

Celebration of Life Service for Mrs. Allie Mae Miller will be 11:00 AM Saturday, July 28, 2018 at The Soutel Chapel, 5065 Soutel Drive, Pastor Wilbert Munfus.  Family will receive friends FRIDAY from 5 – 7 PM at The Soutel Chapel.  Interment at Edgewood Cemetery.  Because of the love of her family, arrangements entrusted to J.
